Samantha, it's known, is playing a key role in the biopic on Mahanati Savitri. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the Telugu-Tamil bilingual has Keerthy Suresh playing Savitri.

We learn that Samantha will play the role of a girl through whom Savitri's story is narrated to the audience.

It's said to be that of yesteryear actress Jamuna, who was a close friend of Savitri and who later parted ways due to some misunderstandings.

Like Savitri, Jamuna was also an actress who was equally popular in Tamil and Telugu film industries.
