Amazon Prime Video has teamed up with Samantha Ruth Prabhu for playing a crucial role in 'Citadel'. The universe's Indian installment stars Bollywood star hero Varun Dhawan in the lead. Created and directed by Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK), 'Citadel' is going to be top-notch in terms of writing and visuals. Written by Sita R Menon, Raj & DK, it has been shot in Mumbai.

"We are talking about the Indian installment of the Citadel universe. The global event series is an American science fiction drama television series," the makers said, adding that the Russo Brothers’ AGBO is also on board.

Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals, Prime Video, said that they are glad to welcome the 'Shaakuntalam' actress. For the showrunners, the 'Oh Baby' actor was the first and obvious choice, having worked with her on 'The Family Man 2'. The actress sees doing 'Citadel' as a sort of homecoming. "The script of the Indian installment really excited me," she adds.

To be shot nationally (in parts of North India) and internationally (in Serbia and South Africa), this one is one of the most awaited OTT shows.

The Indian edition has been described as "retro, rooted, and quirky".

The streaming giant has made it official that crossover superstar Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Scottish actor Richard Madden will also feature in the Citadel universe in the American installment, which will be show-run by Russo Brothers’ AGBO and David Weil. The premiere will happen later this year.
