'Mahanati', the biopic on the legendary Savitri, may be having Keerthy Suresh playing the titular role, but it's Samantha who is the "driver behind the wheels". The film's presenter, Swapna Dutt, says this in an interview.

Even before Keerthy, it was Samantha who was on board. Many reports have stated that she is essaying the role of Jamuna, but this is an unsubstantiated news.

As for Keerthy, she is putting in a lot of effort to be like Savitri, who could put "100 expressions in 10 seconds".

Dulquer Salman who plays Gemini Ganesan has a key role. Vijay Devarakonda is also seen. Malavika Nair of 'Yevade Subrahmanyam' fame and Shalini Pandey of 'Arun Reddy' fame have been roped in. Prakash Raj as Chakrapani and Mohan Babu as SV Ranga Rao will also be seen. Dani Sanchez-Lopez is the cinematographer, while Mickey J Meyer is the music director.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the biopic will hit the screens on March 29.
