Actress Samantha’s new pan-Indian film ‘Shakuntalam’, which has Mollywood's handsome hunk Dev Mohan in the lead role, got launched on Monday. The movie was launched with a customary pooja that was attended by the cast and crew. Here are a few pictures from the ceremony.

Directed by Gunasekhar, who made popular Telugu films like ‘Okkadu’ and ‘Rudhramadevi’, 'Shakuntalam' is the screen adaptation of Kalidasa’s epic Sanskrit play, Abhijnana Shakuntalam. Malayalam actor Dev Mohan, who shot to fame with his debut movie Sufiyum Sujathayum, will romance Samantha in the film. The upcoming mythological film will have Samantha appearing as Shakuntala, the daughter of sage Vishwa Mitra while Dev Mohan will be seen playing the role of King Dushyanta.

'Shaakuntalam' marks the second film of Dev and the first in Telugu. For ‘Shakuntalam’, Dev has undergone training in horse riding, sword fighting, etc to get into the skin of the character. Meanwhile, Samantha has also been training in classical dancing for the past few months. The upcoming movie has already generated a huge hype among the audience ever since it was announced.
