The buzz in the industry is that Samantha Akkineni has signed a women-centric film being produced by Bunny Vaas under Geetha Arts 2. The film will be directed by Rahul Ravindran, who turned director with Nagarjuna's Manmadhudu 2. It may be recalled that Samantha has also played a crucial cameo in Manmadhudu 2.

While the details regarding the genre and the storyline are kept under the wraps, sources say the untitled film will go on floors later this year soon after Samantha wraps up major portions of Shaakuntalam.

In the meantime, Samantha is awaiting the release of The Family Man 2 starring Priyamani and Manoj Bajpayee. The Amazon Prime original is slated to release this summer. Samantha is also reuniting with her Oh Baby director Nandini Reddy for another film, which is expected to go on floors in 2022. She was last seen in Sharwananad-starrer Jaanu, which has turned out to be a damp squib at the box-office.
