Salman Khan's lawyer clarifies on suit against film critic

Prominent Bollywood film critic Kamaal R Khan earlier this week claimed that Salman Khan has filed a defamation suit against him for trolling 'Radhe' in his review. While the Bollywood actor has indeed filed a defamation suit, it's not over the review.

On Thursday, the actor's lawyer put out a statement saying that KRK is facing the suit because he has been launching tirades against the 'Sultan' actor by projecting him in unsavory terms. The suit has been filed as the Defendant (read KRK) has been publishing and endorsing defamatory allegations, including that Mr. Salman Khan is corrupt, that he and his brand “Being Human” are involved in fraud, manipulation and money laundering transactions, that he and Salman Khan Films are dacoits, the lawyer said.

This puts the record straight on the issue. It seems KRK has been trying to gain sympathy among his followers by wrongly claiming that the suit is against the review. A review is protected under the Freedom of Expression as guaranteed by the Constitution. However, defamation is not.

KRK has been a favourite of controversies. In the past, he made intemperate remarks about a lot of celebs.
