Sidharth Malhotra is raking praises for his performance in the war film 'Shershah'. The actor proved to be a perfect fit for the role of Kargil War hero Captain Vikram Batra. Although Sid was always the first choice for the role, there was a time when makers were asked by Salman Khan to recast him. Producer Shabbir Boxwala was approached by Salman Khan who wanted 'Shershah' to be his brother in-law Ayush Sharma's first movie.
Shabbir said, "Salman approached me at a stage when I was in talks with Junglee Pictures. He wanted Shershaah to be Aayush’s [Sharma] debut film, and wanted to partner with me on it.” The filmmaker further revealed how he handled the situation and politely turned down the offer.
He said, "It would have been highly unethical to drop him (Sidharth) for another actor. When Captain Batra’s family gave me the rights, it was a big moment for me. They showed immense trust in me, and I didn’t want to go wrong at any step. I explained [my predicament] to Salman, who was understanding. Aayush was sweet and sportingly said that playing a double role in his debut movie might be [a tall order]."
Ayush will soon be seen sharing screen with Salman Khan in 'Antim'.
