Charging Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of imprisoned criminal Lawrence Bishnoi, of planning the act, the Mumbai Police have produced a chargesheet on the shooting incident outside Salman Khan's Bandra flat. The chargesheet claims that Anmol told gunman Vickykumar Gupta to aim skyward to threaten Bollywood celebrities. This deed was supposedly part of a larger scheme aiming at financial advantage for the Bishnoi gang to establish their supremacy in Mumbai.
Transcripts of talks between Anmol and Gupta abound on the chargesheet that the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court received. Anmol allegedly instructed Gupta to smoke during the deed to seem fearless on CCTV and assured him the shooting would frightish Khan. "You will create history by doing this job, and your name will be in all newspapers and media," Anmol urged Gupta in one chat.
Gupta and Sagar Pal fired several rounds outside Khan's Galaxy Apartments' apartment on April 14 Among the arrested people are Gupta, Pal, Sonukumar Bishnoi, Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, Harpal Singh, and Anujkumar Thapan, apparently suicide in police custody. The five that remain are under judicial custody.
Claiming blame for the shooting, Anmol Bishnoi lives in Canada and visits the USA. But the IP address of his Facebook post attesting to responsibility came from Portugal. He is now issued a lookout circular (LOC).
Over the danger from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Salman Khan voiced grave concern. He said he heard early on April 14 sounds like firecrackers. His police bodyguard told him two persons riding a motorbike had fired at the first-floor balcony. Khan underlined that this episode seriously threatens his family and him.
