After achieving the milestone of entering the 200 Crore Club on Wednesday, Salman Khan's 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' has now edged past Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots [202.5 crore] as well. The film collected 31 crore in its second week, and in the process has now scored 204 crore at the Box Office.
While these are good numbers indeed by a huge margin, the fact remains that when compared to the extended first week (of 8 days), the film has taken a fall of around 80%. However, all credit to the terrific opening which ensured that for Rajshri and Fox, the film turned out to be a profitable venture.
Tamasha has released today at a huge screen count and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is now seeing reduced shows (2-3) in most screens. That said, the film would go past Shahrukh Khan's Happy New Year [205 crore] today and while overall lifetime total of 210 crore would be certainly crossed, it has to be seen how far does it go past that mark. Shahrukh's Chennai Express record of 227 crore is out of bounds though, but still Salman would cherish the fact that he now has three films in the 200 crore club (Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kick, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo) with Ek Tha Tiger [199 crore] missing by just a whisker.
Last week's release X: Past is Present has turned out to be a Box Office disaster with hardly any collections to boast of.
Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
