Following a recent social media threat directed at actor Salman Khan, the Mumbai Police have reevaluated his security arrangements. Earlier, the Mumbai Police had granted him Y-plus security due to threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The recent threat, posted on Facebook by an account posing as Bishnoi, targeted Punjabi singer-actor Gippy Grewal, indirectly mentioning Salman Khan. It warned Grewal about seeking help from Salman and hinted at potential danger, stating that death doesn't require a visa.
Grewal had reported shots fired outside his Vancouver house, and Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the incident. Grewal clarified that he wasn't closely associated with Salman, having met him only twice.
In response to the fresh threats against Salman Khan, the Mumbai Police have issued alerts and reassessed his security measures. An officer stated they've contacted the social media platform to trace the post's origin, verifying if the account truly belongs to Bishnoi, who is currently in jail. They're endeavoring to track the Internet protocol address.
Since November 2022, Salman Khan’s security detail has been at a Y-Plus level. He has also acquired a permit for personal firearm possession and a new bulletproof vehicle. Earlier in April 2023, Mumbai Police increased security around Salman Khan’s residence after his assistant received a threatening email. A case was filed against Lawrence Bishnoi, his associate Goldy Brar, and another individual for allegedly threatening the actor.
