We were the first to predict as good as one week ago that 'Bodyguard' would top the 100 crores mark once it's extended 9 day weekend would come to a close. Things worked perfectly as per the script with the film taking an outstanding opening at the box office. After a record breaking 21 crores first day, the film held on amazingly well to accumulate over 85 crores in just five days flat. With Monday holding on good and rest of the week expected to contribute well too, a first week in the vicinity of 110 crores is a given, which is a record.

This Siddique directed film is now third super success in a row for Salman Khan (after 'Dabangg' and 'Ready') while for Kareena too this is third film (after '3 Idiots' and 'Golmaal 3') which would top the 100 crores mark. As things stand today, the film is all set to cross the 140 crores total of 'Dabangg'. However it has to be seen how far does it go beyond the 150 crores mark now.

At least two of the other three releases of the week didn't go totally unnoticed but box office wasn't really kind to them either. 'Bol' was hailed by critics all over and frankly, it could have fetched some audience as well had it released with lesser competition. As mentioned last week itself, it is difficult to fathom what made the makers of 'Bol' confident that their serious film actually stood a chance in front of a hurricane like 'Bodyguard'. In a packed season ahead with biggies practically every week right through September, 'Bol' would unfortunately not have much to speak about.

'That Girl In Yellow Boots' didn't fetch as glowing reviews as 'Bol' but was noticed for it's theme and to an extent, execution. Yet again the numbers weren't huge though a few upmarket multiplexes did show decent collections during evening and night shows. However overall collections for this offbeat film won't make Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Koechelin cheer much.

As for the fourth release of the week, 'Mummy Punjabi', it was a disaster to begin with, both from cinematic experience as well as box office collections. This dated English film (dubbed in Hindi) wasn't even reviewed by majority of critics, leave aside being seen by the 'aam junta'.
