Salam Bombay, says Pandiraj

Accepting that the basic knot of his forthcoming film 'Marina' is inspired from Bollywood's 'Salam Bombay', director Pandiraj says he would give credit to the critically acclaimed 1988 Hindi movie directed by Mira Nair.
At the same time, the 'Pasanga' maker also clarifies that but for the knot, everything would be different in 'Marina', as it is more a local content and would throw light on children involved in various businesses on the sands of Marina beach.
Marina, the second largest beach in the world, has got many untold stories. Two-and-half hours are just not enough to explain the seashore and the tales it has in store. But I have tried my best to show them on screen, Pandiraj, the National Award winner, says.
'Salam Bombay' chronicles the day-to-day life of children living on the streets of Bombay. It won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi, the National Board of Review Award for Top Foreign Film, the Golden Camera and Audience Awards at the Cannes Film Festival, and three awards at the Montréal World Film Festival. The film was India's second film submission to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
