Sajid Nadiadwala to sue Saregama

ÂAap Ka Kya Hoga   Saregama will have to answer this question to be asked by producer of ÂHousefull Sajid Nadiadwala.
He has decided to sue music company Saregama, and not Prakash MehraÂs sons, Punit and Amit, for defamation over the dispute over the copyright for the Laawaaris song, ÂApni Toh Jaise TaiseÂ, used in his just released ÂHousefullÂ.
According to sources, Nadiadwala paid Rs 15 lakhs to Saregama for the rights. Says Nadiadwala, ÂI canÂt disclose the amount. But itÂs almost five times the money required to record a new song. In any case, itÂs easy to buy copyrights for songs from Saregama. In fact, we got Kaanta Lagaa from Saregama for Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and there was no problem, adding, ÂMy quibble is with Saregama for not going through a proper procedure. IÂm a professional producer who knows how to read the fine print. IÂm going to sue Saregama for defamation. ItÂs either that or a public apology.Â
SaregamaÂs inability to cover all legal and ethical bases before selling the songÂs rights has caught the producerÂs ire.
