If Sajid Khan is claiming that 'Himmatwala' is special and he would most definitely go right in delivering a blockbuster success all over again after a hat trick of box office churners, there is a strong reason behind that. As an audience, he had loved the Jeetendra-Sridevi starrer when the film had released three decades back.
Today when he is officially remaking the film, he is looking at telling a tell as the film's fan and an ardent follower, something that is making him work extra hard on ensuring that what comes on screen is indeed lapped up by today's generation as well.
Says Sajid, "'Himmatwala' was like a bag of chips that you can keep on eating. The same held true for me. I saw it 36 times and today it is in my Top-10 films of all time.
I had to tell that story on screen all over again but having said that, I am not remaking the film. It is my 'Himmatwala', it is my version. What Jeetendra's 'Himmatwala' did for the generations during the 80s, Ajay's 'Himmatwala' would do it for today's generation."
Now one waits to see how the cast and crew too have given their all to the film and made sure that 'Himmatwala' is every bit the hype it has been garnering.
A co-production of Vashu Bhagnani and Siddharth Roy Kapur (of UTV Motion Pictures), 'Himmatwala' also stars Paresh Rawal, Mahesh Manjrekar & Zarina Wahab, has music by Sajid-Wajid and releases all over on 29th March.
