Sajan Prakash became the first Indian swimmer to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Saturday. At the Sette Colli Trophy in Rome, Sajan timed 1:56:38 in the men's 200m butterfly. The qualifying time was 1:56:48 and he beat it by ten seconds at the topmost standard in international swimming. He is the first Indian ever to qualify with the 'A' quoto in history
The humble youngster who has made India proud in successive Olympics received congratulations from all quarters right from the Youth Affairs Union Minister Kiran Raju who wrote on social media "I congratulate @swim_sajan for becoming the 1st Indian swimmer to qualify for #Tokyo2020 as he clocks 1:56:38 in men’s 200m butterfly at the Sette Colli Trophy in Rome.
