Saif Ali Khan didn't get paid for this iconic role

Years before the horror comedy genre became popular in Bollywood, Saif Ali Khan starred in India's first zombie apocalypse film titled 'Go Goa Gone'. Saif played a guy from Delhi who spoke and acted like a Russian. That character and the film as a whole became cult classics and the one liners are often quoted by people.
Directed by Raj and DK, who are now popular for helming 'The Family Man', the film also starred Vir Das, Kunal Khemu, Anand Tiwari and Neha Sharma in central roles. Despite being the biggest name in the cast, Saif Ali Khan didn't actually get paid for his role in this film. Recently in a conversation with Pinkvilla, he talked about this issue and shared that this was the only way to get this film made.
He said, “Go Goa Gone was a very indie, niche kind of a film. It was a zombie comedy and was not meant to be hugely commercial. It was just a fun idea and I didn’t even get paid for that as that was the only way to make that film. Bhoot Police is a lot more commercial and has a rooted idea. I am looking forward to spinning it into a franchise.
Saif Ali Khan was recently seen in another horror comedy titled 'Bhoot Police'.
