"There are a few films that need to be viewed as a community experience and we are grateful that this has reached the big screens. I would like for you all to watch 'Gargi' in THEATRES along with your friends and family." This tweet from Sai Pallavi captures the feeling of the makers of 'Gargi'. The producers and distributors of small films such as 'Gargi' want the audience to watch meaningful movies in theatres and not wait for them to stream on OTT.
But the hope hasn't been answered. 'Gargi' hasn't secured the required footfalls in the Telugu States despite decent content. It was released this Friday.
For Sai Pallavi, the failure is a personal setback after a disaster like 'Virata Parvam'. What unites these two films is that they both belong to the category of 'Good films that won't be watched in a theatre but will be loved on OTT'. 'VP' has received accolades on Netflix.
That said, the 'Premam' actress' personal glory is intact. The 'Fidaa' actress could well derive personal satisfaction when either or both of these films fetch her awards. 'Gargi' is a Tamil original and 'VP' is a Telugu original. That way, she stands a very good chance of bagging awards at a separate set of award functions.
