Saguni Music Review

The fact that Karthi Sivakumar did not have a release for the past one-and-half years (after 'Siruthai') has raised expectations manifold on 'Saguni' and its songs. Apparently sensing the curiosity well, G V Prakash Kumar has come out with numbers which will be lapped up by the audience in the first-listen itself.

A 'sema' kuthu song, 'Kandha Kaara Vadai' is full of energy. Shankar Mahadevan's voice does the much needed magic to this number, which has interesting interludes from none other than Karthi.

Sonu Nigam, Saindhavi

G V Prakash has made his fiance Saindhavi to sing this breezy melody, in the company of Sonu Nigam. 'Manasellam Mazhaiye...', which reminds one of the music composer's uncle AR Rahman at places, is an interesting composition.

Baba Sehgal, Priya Himesh

Again an energetic song, but it's a duet this time. Our lyricists never run short of words to describe heroines and this song is one good example. You can call it a comedy duet as well.

Velmurugan

Need we say more about this gaana number as the first three words explain clearly the intentions of the song. G V Prakash has made the maximum use of 'thaarai thappattai' to  infuse energy into the nerves of the listeners. Velmurugan's voice is an additional plus.

Pushpavanam Kuppusamy

A song that is a humourous take on the political system, especially elections, of this country. A 'thiruvizha' type song, its success was ensured at the moment when GVP picked Pushpavanam Kuppusamy to croon it. A blast indeed.

Songs from 'Saguni' is for the 'mass' lover in everyone.
