Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded
Superstar Mohanlal had the biggest turnaround in his career when he was called upon by director K Madhu to portray the life of Sagar, Alias Jacky, a wonderfully penned character by S N Swamy.
The challenging role from mega hit `Irupathaam Nootraandu', which came his way in 1987, positioned him as the best of the heroes in business in terms of popularity and initial pull in Mollywood.
Now 22 years later, Mohanlal, who is still sitting comfortably in the throne of superstardom, is once again playing a character with the same name in `Sagar Alias Jacky, Reloaded', a new film directed by cinematographer-turned-director Amal Neerad.
This is Amal Neerad's second film as a director, his first being the stylishly produced `Big B'.
The movie scripted by S.N. Swamy, tells the story of one of the most powerful underworld dons - Sagar, Alias Jacky, (reminiscent of Dawood) who is based in Dubai and is known for his international connections.
The don is forced to make a landing to Kerala, as he is wrongly implicated in something with which he has the faintest relation. Realising that a big trap is laid to corner and trash him, Sagar decides to meet the hidden manipulators in their own den.
What all follows is a stylish action drama, all set to keep everyone at the edge of the seats.
Bhavana plays the role of Namitha Menon, a television journalist in the movie.
Shobhana also makes a comeback to Malayalam with a short role in the movie. Mohanlal's son Pranav, will also share the screen space with his father, in this movie in a very crucial scene.
The makers of `Sagar Alias Jacky' have already declared that though the name of the protagonist is the same of `Irupathaam Noottandu', this is not a sequel. It's an action thriller placed and presented in today's style and speed.
The director Amal Neerad has done the duties of the cinematographer too. Gopisundar has taken care of music department.
Produced by Mohanlal's Man Friday Antony Perumbavoor and distributed by his own new distribution firm - Max labs ,'Sagar Alias Jacky' is undoubtedly the most eagerly awaited film of the year.
The movie will make a release in around 100 theatres on the 26th of this month.
