India's former skipper MS Dhoni has been on the receiving end of criticism for his lower strike rate in a couple of the ICC World Cup matches, especially in the game against England, which cost the team in the end.
The 33-ball 35 from Dhoni at the death during India's match against Bangladesh was yet again criticized as the team managed to score only 63 runs in the last 10 overs. Even though Sachin Tendulkar expressed his disappointment with Dhoni's strike rate post the team's match against Afghanistan, he has now backed up Dhoni, stating that he always thought of the team first. "I felt it was an important inning and he (Dhoni) did exactly what was right for the team. If he stays till the 50th over, he can help other guys around him. He is expected to do that and he did that. For him, it is more about the team. Whatever is the need of the hour, one needs to do that and on Tuesday (against Bangladesh), he did that perfectly," Sachin stated.
Having sealed their qualification for the semi-finals already, India will be playing their upcoming match against Sri Lanka in Leeds on Saturday, July 6.
