'Saaho' actress Shraddha Kapoor is among some of the celebs who have signed a petition demanding justice for the pregnant elephant which was recently killed by locals of a village in Malappuram in Kerala. The culprits resorted to unspeakable animal abuse by making the hungry elephant consume a cracker-laden fruit.
Shraddha, taking to Twitter, wrote, "Ministry of Law and Justice: Justice for our Voiceless friends." While 'Run Raja Run' actress Seerat Kapoor said, "Every sentient being is precious."
Rashmi Gautam, too, has signed the petition. "I have been vocal equally on every occasion about animal abuse even if it meant harsh trolls and comments. No religion asks for animal sacrifice or submission. It's the people who have twisted things for individual benefits," she added.
Bollywood actor John Abraham outraged, saying, "Shame on us! Ashamed to be a human!".
"Perhaps a more important question to ask is why we hear so much about voiceless deaths, and not enough about prosecutions? Due to loopholes in the judicial system, how many will actually end up being sentenced?" the petition says.
