Isaignani Ilaiyaraj has been fighting for the royalty rights over the songs he has composed. He has taken legal action against many private parties who have used his songs for commercial purposes without giving him the royalty due for him.

The long drawn issue took a sudden turn on Saturday (December 22) as a group of film producers including P.T.Selvakumar who has produced films including Thalapathy Vijay's 'Puli' have filed a case against Ilaiyaraja claiming that producers who pay the music directors to compose songs in the film have not received any royalty till the date and they claim that producers should get 50% of royalty share received by Ilaiyaraja for his songs.

Now Thalapathy Vijay's father and veteran filmmaker S.A.Chanrasekar has supported the Producers' claim over the royalty share. He has also said that the royalty for Ilaiyaraja's songs should go only for the producers hence they have already paid him for the songs. He has requested all the film producers to be united in fighting for this cause of getting royalty.
