If we randomly select ten Tamil movie buffs and asks them to list their most favourite comedy films, Manal Kayiru` will be definitely included in all the lists. The film released in 1982 with S.Ve.Sheker and Shanthi Krishna in lead roles was written and directed by Visu, one of the most successful and people favourite directors of the 1980s.

Now the sequel of this classic comedy has been launched with a formal Pooja on Sunday. Interestingly S.Ve.Shekher and Visu will be playing their same roles of Kittu Mani and Naradhar Naidu in this sequel that is being made after 34 years. Shekher`s son Ashwin Shekher will be acting in the lead role.

If Manal Kayiru` dealt with the problems associated with arranged marriages in humorous and emotional angles, the sequel will have a next generation story. The film will be directed by Madhan Kumar who has earlier directed the comedy flick Yaaruda Mahesh`.

Manal Kayiru 2` has been bankrolled by Sri Thenandal Films.
