S. J. Suryah was one of the most sensational filmmakers in the South churning out blockbuster films with top heroes such as Ajith in 'Vaali', Vijay in 'Khushi' and Mahesh Babu in 'Naani'. However since acting was his first love he directed himself in 'New', 'Ane Aaruyire' and 'Isai'.
Suryah after a long gap returned as a villain in Thalapathy Vijay's 'Mersal' and a character actor in 'Nanban' and 'Iraivi' all of which earned him a good name. However his dominating performances in the blockbusters 'Maanaadu' and 'Don' have made him one of the most sought after in South Indian films.
Suryah is currently playing the chief antagonists in Shankar's 'Indian 2' and 'Game Changer', Vishal's 'Mark Antony' and Raghava Lawrence's 'Jigarthanda 2'. His new movie 'Bommai' in which he plays the main lead is finally releasing in theaters on June 16th. The film directed by Radha Mohan has Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead.
During the promotions of 'Bommai' which he is also producing, S.J. Suryah revealed that if at all he has to return to the director's chair he would love to revive 'Arunachalam VS Chithra' which was announced many years back but was dropped.
'AC' as the film was also known as starred Simbu in dual roles as a gangster and a farmer with Asin playing the female lead. The actor-director added that he even discussed about reviving the film with Simbu while working together in 'Maanaadu' and whether it will happen only time could tell.
