SAG-AFTRA's Costume Controversy: No Costume Drama for Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's Kids!

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively can rest easy this Halloween season as SAG-AFTRA has clarified costume guidance that had previously sparked controversy.
SAG-AFTRA initially issued Halloween guidelines aimed at content creators and members to help them avoid promoting struck work during the strike, raising questions about whether these rules applied to their children. However, the Guild has now specified that the guidelines do not apply to anyone's kids.
The strike has been ongoing for nearly 100 days as SAG-AFTRA's 160,000 members continue to seek a fair deal from the studios. Despite the strike and the lack of new talks scheduled since studios suspended deliberations on October 11, Reynolds and Lively's children are free to dress up as any character they desire for Halloween.
SAG-AFTRA emphasized that their top priority is to return to the negotiating table with the studios and achieve a fair resolution for their members. Meanwhile, the Halloween costume guidance has drawn criticism from various quarters within the industry.
Mandy Moore expressed her frustration on social media, urging SAG-AFTRA to negotiate in good faith and put an end to the strike. Melissa Gilbert, a former SAG president and star of Little House on the Prairie, questioned the significance of such rules and implored the Guild to focus on resolving the strike and returning the industry to work.
Amidst the ongoing strike and the debate over Halloween costumes, it seems that the creative spirit of Halloween will remain undiminished for Reynolds and Lively's family and others. As Reynolds' famous character Deadpool might say, Life is an endless series of train wrecks with only brief commercial-like breaks of happiness.
