Directors behind the box office behemoths Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, Joe and Anthony Russo might soon find themselves back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Previously known as The Kang Dynasty, the Russo brothers are allegedly in early talks guiding the forthcoming 2026 Avengers film as well as the 2027 Avengers: Secret Wars. Like the two-part tale of Infinity War and Endgame, these movies are meant to wrap the Multiverse Saga of the MCU.

Since Destin Daniel Cretton, famed for Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, left Kang Dynasty, Marvel Studios has been looking for directors for these big back-to--back movies. When approached, Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool & Wolverine, turned down the proposition. Michael Waldron, the author of Loki, just got engaged to write the Avengers: The Kang Dynasty screenplay. Still, Secret Wars lacks a scriptwriter right now.

Particularly after Marvel cut connections with Jonathan Majors, who portrayed several iterations of the supervillain Kang in the Disney+ series Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the future of Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars has remained dubious. Marvel renamed the film in response to Majors' conviction for domestic abuse and violence.

The schedule of production for these Avengers movies is yet unknown. The Russos' next endeavor, which wrapped filming in late 2022, is Netflix's The Electric State, a sci-fi adventure with Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown.

Previously helmingross four Marvel films, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, the Russo brothers With $2.79 billion, Avengers: Endgame is second-highest grossing movie ever; Infinity War comes in sixth with $2.05 billion. They accompany James Cameron as the sole two $2 billion blockbusters filmmaker.

Following Endgame, the Russos migrated to streaming and oversaw Apple TV+'s Cherry and Netflix's The Gray Man. They also produced Netflix's Extraction, Amazon's Citadel, and Everything Everywhere All at Once.
