Sonal Chauhan will be seen in a glamorous role in 'Ruler'. In this interview, catch her talk about her role in the December 20th release. She also shares her experience of working with Balakrishna, the kind of roles she wants to play and more.
Can do 100 movies with Balayya
My journey has been beautiful, having done blockbusters like 'Legend' in Telugu. Before meeting Balakrishna garu for the first time, I was nervous. Once I met him, I realized that he is very friendly, jovial and comes with a lot of sense of humour. The Telugu film industry is like home to me, thanks to Balayya garu. I would be happy to do even a hundred movies with him.
Fondness for Telugus
I love Hyderabad, I love Telugus. My Telugu fans and friends motivate me constantly on social media. I wanted to do it even before I had listened to the story of 'Ruler'.
Two looks, double whammy
Balayya garu's first look that came out proved it that he has never been seen like that. It's a double dhamaka for his fans, as he has been cast in an urbane, style look and a rowdy police officer. His fans are going to go mad. It's a treat for them.
A meaty role
I have played Harika, a strong-headed girl. She is very clear in her mind, whatever she wants, she will get it anyhow. She wants something that the hero has. So, she is also competing with him. That's why mine is a very meaty role in the movie. She is also emotional, she is innocent. There are many comedy scenes that I have got to do in the film. There is a lot of glamour as well.
I have liked Balayya garu in the urbane look more. That's obvious from the trailer itself. I have got just one scene with Vedhika, a scene in which you will find the entire cast against the backdrop of hundreds of extras.
Want to be versatile
I am somebody who likes to do varied kinds of roles. But I am offered strong-headed type of roles. The most important quality of an actor is that he or she should be versatile. Actors like Kamal Haasan sir have done a variety of roles. I am really dying to do a non-glamorous role, a proper villager's role.
Growing in knowledge
I started working quite young. I think I do have a better understanding than my sister, who started working very recently. With each passing film, I get stronger. At the same time, I am also emotional, something that keeps me human.
OTT is the future
I am in talks for a Hindi film and a Telugu project as well. I will reveal it later. I have done a web series in Hindi. I genuinely believe that digital media is the future. I have been speaking to a lot of friends, producers in the industry. They all say that digital is the future. It's fast becoming like Hollywood here. The OTT segment is something I totally love watching, as it offers entertainment at your fingertips. OTT makes life easier. I don't like going out much. For someone like me, OTT is great.
Silly rumours about me
If rumours are about me and a person I met socially, it looks awkward. Otherwise, it's fine. There are a lot of stupid rumours floating around about me. I give a damn. My family knows me very well. They are not affected by the rumours. I talk to them 20 times a day. So, there is no misunderstanding.
