Model-Designer-Actress Rukshar Mir has two back-to-back releases coming up in Telugu. The 'Show Time' and 'Akatayi' girl, who sounds every bit confident and mature, tells IndiaGlitz what she wants to do in the coming years, her performance-oriented character in 'Show Time', and more.
The character of a confident, fashionable girl in 'Show Time', says Rukshar, didn't come to her before she felt nervous about whether she will make it or not. "I was a bit nervous initially. When the director (SS Kanchi) liked my audition, I was signed up. Mine is a full-fledged role in the movie, where I get to portray a range of emotions - there is love, there is trauma. There are people who, even if something bad happens, are open-minded, strong and confident. My character comes with those kinds of shades. I am playing a strong woman in the film," she quips.
Rukshar has journeyed from Sandalwood to Tollywood after winning a big round of applause for her 'Katte' act. "Karnataka has given me a lot of love, a lot of fans. When you have people who always want to see you on screen, when they ask you, 'When is your next movie?', it feels good because you know you are entertaining them," she says with a sense of glee.
Her name means 'A girl with rosy cheeks', but Rukshar doesn't want to be seen as just a cute girl by the audience. "I think my audience should like me for the characters that I play. You play different roles. Some times you are cute, some times you are glamorous, and so on," she says, suggesting that just being a mere glam doll is not for her.
A creative person always, there was a time when Rukshar wanted to be a chef. "I wanted to be a chef. Then I did fashion designing. Before movies happened, I had done modelling and a few ad assignments. I had never planned for acting. I have no regrets because I still do designing for myself. I am still in touch with it."
How has her stint with modelling and acting changed her as a person? "Whatever I am today, I always used to be the same. My pre-film career works did obviously help me prepare for acting. Each step helped me in some way," says a confident Mir.
Does she watch Telugu movies? "I haven't watched any of late for I have been too busy travelling. When I didn't know Telugu, I remember watching dubbed movies on TV. I am very glad I am a part of this industry, which is open to taking newcomers," Rukshar says, adding that she likes Mahesh Babu for being a natural and Allu Arjun for being an amazing dancer. She also recalls Rajamouli's appreciation for the team 'Show Time', saying that the 'Baahubali' maker was impressed with his brother SS Kanchi's work.
Looking forward to doing more and more films in Tollywood, the London-born diva says that, five years down the line, she sees herself as a successful actor who is loved by the audience. "As an actress, I will give all the hard work that I can," she promises.
As someone who wanted to be a chef, what does she cook at home? "I make a lot of cakes and cookies. It's quite a stress buster for me. I use my time to learn something new. While shooting for 'Show Time', we were served a chutney made of ginger and I really loved it," she says. And yes, she is conscious that, being an actress, she can't binge...
