RSS cadres attacked in Nungambakkam, police still to trace attackers

A gang of 15 persons attacked RSS cadres in Nungambakkam, Chennai when they were going through their usual ‘Shakha’ drills.  Police are investigating the case.

As part of their usual evening drills referred to as Shakha, some RSS cadres were involved in Silambam training using long bamboo sticks when they came under attack by a gang of 15 persons who arrived at the spot. After attacking the cadres, the gang escaped before it could be traced.

Three RSS cadres were injured in the attack, the motive for which was not known. Passers-by witnessed the attack but none of them came forward to depose as witnesses. Later, a complaint was lodged with the Nungambakkam Police Station.

A case has been registered by the Nungambakkam police which later rushed the injured RSS cadres to hospital for treatment as out-patients. Tension gripped the Nungambakkam Corporation Park locality after news about the attack spread.
