An electricity bill of a resident of Secunderabad is doing the rounds on the Internet because of the mind-boggling number on it. One A Krishna Murthy has been charged Rs 25 lakh for 122 days. As soon as he received the shocking bill, Murthy didn’t know what to do.
He complained to appropriate authorities and Telangana deputy speaker T Padma Rao took note of it. The bill had by then gone viral on social media. Bearing Unique Service Number 100293954, the bill issued by TSSPDCL’s Padma Rao Nagar circle has since been reversed.
The customer’s electricity metre was reportedly sent to an MRT lab in Erragadda for examination. It was found that there was a discrepancy, which is why the bill got generated for Rs 25 lakh instead of Rs 2,000 or thereabouts.
The issue now stands resolved but the technical snag that caused the unprecedented discrepancy only reminds that nothing is really fool-proof in our times.
