In this section, we are going to review the songs from 'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram' as and when they are out. The album is presented by Lahari Music.
Janani
Singers: MM Keeravani & Chorus
Lyricist: MM Keeravani
The melody is not the gist of 'RRR' but encapsulates the emotion anchoring the epic saga of two freedom fighters. The mellifluous chorus, powered by a patriotic emotion, is in contrast to the expressions that Jr NTR and Ram Charan keep in the visuals; their face exudes shock and pain at once. The lyrics are going to make better sense when we come to know of the situation and the story. Keeravani delivers a supreme winner.
Naatu Naatu
Singers: Rahul Sipligunj, Kaala Bhairava
Lyricist: Chandrabose
Since Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) and Alluri Sitaramaraju (Ram Charan) were tribal/folk leaders, MM Keeravani has adopted a folk tune for this dance-heavy number. The lyrical video is indicative that the two actors have jived in a super-fast fashion and the beats are attuned to their agility. Rahul Sipligunj has been chosen precisely owing to his strength in crooning folk songs. Kaala Bhairava joins him and delivers a dekko. Chandrabose's lyrics are suffused with meaning. The song's mood reminds us of the 'Jor Se' song from 'Magadheera'.
Dosti
Singer: Hemachandra
Lyricist: Sirivennela Sitharamasastry
The majestic song lives up to the larger-than-life characterizations of 'RRR'. Since 'Dosti' is about the unrelenting fortitude of two real-life heroes, Sirivennela imbues it with not generic usages meant to impress those looking for breezy lines but character-driven lines that hit home. Hemachandra's rendition is effective, although one feels it sort of waters down some of the impact because of the nature of his voice. The Tamil version, rendered by Anirudh, has received unalloyed applause in contrast, probably because his voice is more suited for songs like this one. MM Keeravani's tuning grows when you listen to it on loop. There are complaints about the soaring tune being a callback to the 'Baahubali' tune, but it's a minor quibble.
