In the past, Vijay Deverakonda made a statement about his film Liger that led to severe trolling. He had confidently stated that Liger would collect over 200 crores at the box office before its release. However, the movie turned out to be a huge flop. At the pre-release event of Family Star, Vijay Deverakonda addressed this incident.

Reflecting on his journey, Vijay mentioned, “Six years back, I achieved the biggest success of my career with Geetha Govindam, directed by Parasuram. Many have since urged me to do a film like Geetha Govindam, as it left a lasting impact. During that time, I delivered a string of successful films. Back when Pelli Choopulu was released, I had mentioned in an interview that I aimed to have my films gross over 100 crores, a milestone I reached with my fourth film.”

Vijay continued, “The love I received for Geetha Govindam was immense. Despite my best efforts, I haven't been able to surpass it with another film. I also made a statement about delivering a 200 crore film, which didn't materialize. Many questioned my statement, accusing me of arrogance. It's disappointing that I couldn't achieve a 200 crore film after making such a bold declaration. However, I remain confident that one day, I will deliver a film that crosses the 200 crore mark. Until then, I'm prepared to face criticism because I believe in myself.”

Vijay Deverakonda's candid admission at the event showcased his resilience and determination to achieve his goals despite setbacks. In the meantime, Family Star directed by Parasuram is racing for a spectacular release on 5 April 2024.
