Australia makes a winning start in the ODI series against India, as they have won the first one day international today at Sydney. Australia won the toss, and opted to bat first, and despite the early departure of openers Finch(6) and Carey (24), Khawaja (59) and Marsh (54) resurrected Aussies with a 92 run stand.
Handscomb later blazed away 73(61), completely taking the momentum from Indians, as Aussies reached a competitive 288/5, propelled by Stoinis unbeaten cameo of 47(43)*.The Indian innings began on a disastrous note, as Dhawan and Rayudu departed for ducks, and skipper Kohli was also dismissed cheaply, leaving India reeling at 4/3.
With Dhoni joining forces with Rohit Sharma, India witnessed a better phase, as Dhoni provided ample support to Rohit, who had been scoring at regular intervals, before being wrongly given out for 51(96). Rohit went on to score a massive 133(129b, 10x4,6x6), but as he was dismissed by Stoinis, the chances of an Indian win ended as well, and ultimately India ended at 254/9,losing the first ODI by 34 runs. Jhye Richardson was the pick of the Australian bowlers with impressive figures of 4/26.
