Swiss Tennis champion Roger Federer has pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics 2020, set to begin later this month, due to a knee injury. Federer, who underwent two knee surgeries in 2020, was knocked out of Wimbledon by Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals last week.

I am greatly disappointed, as it has been an honor and highlight of my career each time I have represented Switzerland. I have already begun rehabilitation in the hopes of returning to the tour later this summer. I wish the entire Swiss team the best of luck and I will be rooting hard from afar."

Other major Tennis players who withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics include Stan Wawrinka, Nick Kyrgios, Simona Halep, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Simona Halep, and Dominic Thiem.
