Ramanyammal, who proved that age is no barrier to follow and achieve one's dreams passed away today. She was 69 and had reportedly been admitted to a Chennai hospital for over a year suffering from an age related disease. Several celebrities including Archana Chandhoke have paid rich tributes to her on social media.
Ramani Ammal who was born in 1954 has been singing in orchestras most of her life and got the chance in films in 'Kaathavarayan' (2008) and 'Haridas' (2013). However she became a household name after participating in the Sa Re Ga Ma seniors show on Zee Tamil. Her impeccable singing of old Tamil songs coupled with her humour and quick wit won her fans of all ages.
Her new found fame gave her more film chances in 'Junga', 'Sandakozhi 2', 'Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja' and 'Kaappaan'. She also acted in an important character in the recently released 'Bommai Nayagi' produced by Pa Ranjith and starring Yogi Babu in the lead. Her performance was well appreciated by critics and fans.
Ramani who came into the limelight only at the age of 63 and instantly became a true blue Rockstar will remain a big inspirition to many artistes. RIP!
