What's the common factor between some of the most popular Bollywood franchises, case in point being Krrish, Golmaal, Tanu Weds Manu or Munnabhai? Well, each one of them has a director who has helmed the franchise right from the beginning. Rakesh Roshan has made sure that Krrish becomes popular enough to now move into the fourth part. Aanand L. Rai is making one ask for a lot more after delivering two back to back delightful stories. It is also about time for Raj Kumar Hirani to now make third Munnabhai. As for Ram Gopal Varma, he is already taking the story of Sarkar into Part 3.

However, there also have been movies that have seen a change in guard during sequels. Housefull 3 had Sajid-Farhad stepping in after Sajid Khan had made the first two parts. Dhoom 3 had Vijay Krishna Acharya brought in charge after Sanjay Gadhvi has established the franchise. However, all of this happened when the third in the series had to be made.

It is very rare when a new director comes on board for the second part itself, especially when the first part has been successful. This is what is happening for Rock On 2 which has first time director Shujaat Saudagar stepping in for Abhishek Kapoor. It is a known fact that when the transition took place, it wasn't quite smooth and there were some words exchanged during the change of guard. However, now that it has happened and the D-Day is round the corner, one looks forward to the kind of 'Magik' (going by the name of the band in the film) that is created with the new director on board.
