R.K. Nagar R.O. files complaint against Vetrivel for releasing 'Jaya video'

The Returning Officer in R.K. Nagar, Chennai has filed a complaint with the New Washermenpet Police Station against dissident AIADMK leader Vetrivel for releasing a 20-second long video depicting the deceased chief-minister sipping a glass of juice during her 75-day long hospital at Apollo Hospital last year.
Action is being initiated to delete the video from social networking sets as well, senior polling officer Karthikeyan has said. R.K.Nagar votes today to elect a representative in place of 'Puratchithalaivi' J. Jayalalithaa, who was declared dead by Apollo Hospital on the night of 05th December last year. In order to woo voters, AIADMK dissident and independent candidate Dinakaran released the 'Jaya video' yesterday.
After the Election Commission of India sent an emergency advisory to all language television channels in the country in general and Tamil Nadu in particular, the broadcast of the 20-second long video was stopped."Code of conduct is in place and that is why we are advising channels not to broadcast this 'Jaya treatment video'; we have advised Cyber Crime Police to delete the video from the Internet,"he informed.
After the EC had termed the release of the video as 'illegal', Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhani had authorized Polling officer Pravin Nair to register a case against MLA Vetrivel for releasing the video in violation of the code of conduct in place.
