The RK Nagar seat that has been devoid since last December, now sees a mega political battle with the Election Commission scheduling the by-polls for the 12th of April.

For the seat that previously belonged to the late ADMK's supremo, contention has been only but intense. At one end, there is Jaya's niece herself, declaring publicly to take over her Aunt's turf. At the other end of the spectrum, the AIADMK announced its party's Deputy Gen. Secy T T V Dinakaran as its candidate for RK Nagar, while the prime opposition party had announced N Marudhuganesh as its candidate.

The Panneerselvam faction, that separated from the Palanisamy led ADMK, has just announced its candidate too. ADMK's former presidium chairman, E Madusudhanan who joined the OPS camp after being sacked by Sasikala, will contest for the RK Nagar seat.
