Riteish-Arshad's 'Double Dhamaal' next only to Salman's Ready'

'Double Dhamaal' has turned out to be a much bigger hit than what was expected from it till the day of it's release. Though predictions continued to flip-flop around Friday, it was felt by many that the film hadn't managed to maintain a momentum just before it's release. However the prediction was proven wrong with audience thronging theatres in a big way on the opening weekend. With over 70% occupancy at almost all centres, this multistarrer comic sequel saw big numbers being fetched and only continued to show an escalation in foot falls with every passing day.

Resultantly the film garnered an astonishing 25 crores in just three days, hence enjoying the second biggest weekend of the year after 'Ready' and edging past 23 crores opening weekend of 'Yamla Pagla Deewana'. Now this is truly fabulous for Indra Kumar and his team here as such huge collections were never anticipated to begin with.

Also, the film's success has proved once again that audience has a mind of its own and once they have decided to watch a film, even the worse of reviews can't make them change their mind. This was apparent from the fact that leaving aside 3-4 reviews, at least a dozen odd scathing reviews couldn't stop the film from earning good moolah for itself.

The film has been accepted whole heartedly and while it is now a definite hit and also all set to cross the 50 crores mark, it has to be seen whether it would be able to cross the lifetime collections (55 crores) of 'Yamla Pagla Deewana'. Reason being that there is massive competition week after week starting with 'Delhi Belly' and 'Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap'. This would be followed by 'Murder 2', 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' and 'Singham', all of which would result in diminished show count for 'Double Dhamaal'.

Nevertheless, no one associated with 'Double Dhamaal' would be complaining, especially Riteish Deshmukh and Arshad Warsi who have now enjoyed yet another multistarrer success to their name in recent times after 'Housefull' and 'Golmaal 3'.
