Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicketkeeper, had witnessed a huge rise in the ICC test player rankings. In the just concluded Border Gavaskar trophy test series against Australia, Rishabh Pant had blazed away 350 runs in 7 innings, and with this impressive performance, he has improved his rankings in the ICC test players list.
Rishabh had scored an unbeaten 159 runs off 189 deliveries in the 4th and final test against Aussies at SCG, following which his ranking had a rapid rise, and he is currently placed at 17th rank in the ICC rankings, in an advancement by 21 places. Among wicketkeeper batsmen of India, Farook Engineer had earlier held 17th rank, and that was considered the best. MS Dhoni had held 19th position in the ICC rankings earlier.
Cheteshwar Pujara, who amassed 521 runs at an average of 74, winning the man of the match as well as player of the series awards, also advanced in the ICC rankings, as he has been positioned at number 3 in the rankings. Skipper Virat Kohli remains the world's number 1 test batsman, while Ravindra Jadeja is at 57th position. With two 50s in the series, consistent opener Mayank Agarwal advanced to 62nd position in the latest ICC test rankings.
