More than 24 hours after WhatsApp chats retried from Rhea Chakraborty's mobile phone became public, Sushant Singh Rajput's father has alleged that his son was poisoned by the Bollywood actress.

"She poisoned my son. She murdered him. She should be arrested promptly," the actor's father said in a short video clip that has started going viral on the Internet. The old man can be seen fighting back tears in the video. It's not clear if he knows about the WhatsApp chaps that have been made public by a news channel.

Earlier, the Narcotics Control Bureau said that it has launched an investigation into the actress' alleged possession and purchasing of cannibis. On his part, Rhea's lawyer has denied that she has ever used drugs in her life.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old actress' father, Indrajit Chakraborty, will on Thursday be interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate in Mumbai.
