Ram Gopal Varma is ready with 'Disha Encounter', a film on the brutal rape and murder of a doctor from Hyderabad. The rape shocked the nation in November 2019. Days later, all the accused were shot dead by police in an encounter.
Releasing the first look of the film, RGV tweeted, "Disha gang rape that happened on NOVEMBER 26, 2019, aroused such anger throughout India that the government not only changed rape laws but also for the first time in the world created DISHA police stations named after a victim."
He added, "My film will release on November 26, 2020, a year after the incident."
Sharing a still from the movie, Varma wrote, "The underpass where poor DISHA was BURNT looks as HORRIFYING as the RAPISTS (sic)."
The film will release on OTT on a pay-per-view basis. In recent months, Varma has released at least one OTT release per month.
