Relying on biographies, autobiographies, media reports, academic literature, etc in making a biopic is a given. But consulting everyone from relatives, rivals to servants methodically and purposefully is possible only for a Ram Gopal Varma.
In making 'Lakshmi's NTR', the director is going to meet drivers and servants who lived in NT Rama Rao's times to get authentic accounts (as far as possible) of the thespian-turned-Chief Minister of then united Andhra Pradesh's life.
Given that NTR's last days are mired in controversy, and Ramu is saying that the "truth" will be told from the perspective of Lakshmi Parvathi, are we to sense politics here? The makers assure that the film won't be political in any way. "I swear that only the truth, as it happened, will be shown in the biopic. Our film transcends politics," producer P Rakesh Reddy says.
Ramu may well meet film personalities like Venu Madhav (comedian), who worked as an office boy in NTR's office way back in the early 1990s.
The film is expected to be a bold, brutally honest one. The film will go to the sets from February 2018. RGV is aiming for a grand October release.
