The Telangana High Court has stayed all proceedings on an FIR filed against Ram Gopal Varma in connection with an alleged defaulting case. A few days ago, financier-producer Sekhar Raju complained to the Miyapur Police that RGV had taken Rs 56 lakh for producing 'Disha' in early 2020.
As per Varma, Sekhar Raju of Sekhara Arts gave him Rs 56 lakh after the director allowed Raju to produce 'Disha'. After a few months, the producer spoke of his inability to make further investments. The budget was estimated to be Rs 3 Cr. The project was about to be shelved when a new producer named Anurag Kancherla stepped up. This is when Varma told Raju about the new development. Raju then showed interest in joining the project as an associate producer.
Despite the promises made by him to Varma, Raju allegedly went on to lodge a police complaint seeking the return of the money.
RGV has given a detailed explanation of the entire turn of events.
The HC has posted the matter for further hearing on June 17.
