Speaking at the pre-release event of 'Officer', Ram Gopal Varma was almost emotional. "I have never done any good deed. I have never prayed to God. I have never respected elders. Despite all this, I have been blessed to meet a good person. It's Nagarjuna. I don't know if it's because of the good deeds I did in my last life. If I speak 2-3 sentences more, I will have tears in my eyes. And it will spoil my reputation," RGV said in his own style.
"No matter how well a director visualizes, it's the performers who alone can make the work of all departments effective. I thank Nagarjuna for his consistent performance in 'Officer'. Through his each and every expression, he brought the imagination in me to reality in flesh and blood," RGV said.
"I have reinvented myself as a person and as a director by making this film. And all credit goes to Nagarjuna," Ramu added.
"When I narrated the script to Nag, he said that he had never done a heroism-oriented film in his career after 'Shiva'. It had never occurred to me and I was shocked upon hearing it from him. A hero has to have a belief system and should take on the villains without fear. In 'Shiva', a college student was forced by circumstances to take up the cudgels. In 'Officer', it's an experienced officer who does it," RGV noted.
"I have made heroes out of street rowdies, gangsters and factionists in my films. In 'Officer', I have criminalized a cop!" he quipped.
