The much-anticipated collaboration between acclaimed director Karthik Subbaraj and versatile actor Suriya has been officially titled "Retro." The film's teaser, released on December 25, 2024, offers a glimpse into a narrative rich with action, romance, and drama.

The teaser opens with a serene scene featuring Suriya and Pooja Hegde's characters on the banks of a Varanasi ghat during the evening aarti. Suriya's character makes a heartfelt promise to abandon his violent past, including ties to his father's criminal activities, in pursuit of pure love. This romantic moment is interspersed with intense flashes of his tumultuous past, showcasing high-octane action sequences and confrontations with formidable adversaries portrayed by actors such as Joju George, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, and Nasser.

"Retro" is produced jointly by 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench Films. The film features music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna, and editing by Shafique Mohamed Ali. The film's distribution rights in Tamil Nadu have been acquired by Sakthi Film Factory, and Netflix has secured the streaming rights, ensuring a wide reach post its theatrical run.
