Puerto Rican pop star Ricky Martin, as per his lawyer, has strongly refuted accusations of having a ‘romantic or sexual’ relationship with his nephew and called the allegations not only untrue but disgusting.
Ricky Martin was served a restraining order citing domestic abuse in Puerto Rico earlier this month and the singer’s brother Eric Martin later identified the alleged victim as Martin’s 21-year-old nephew. Ricky Martin’s lawyer has now strongly refuted the allegations and asserted that his client’s nephew is struggling with deep mental health challenges.
“Ricky Martin has, of course, never been -- and would never be -- involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew. The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts,” the singer’s attorney was quoted as saying.
Ricky Martin is reportedly due in court on July 21, when a judge will determine if the restraining order should remain in place or be terminated. The pop star, who is ranked among the Greatest Latin Artists of All Time, is the recipient of two Grammy Awards and three Billboard Music Awards.
