Ola has announced the launch of its electric scooter. It will be competing with players like Ather, TVS, and Bajaj in the electric scooter segment in the coming decades.
The aggregator will be manufacturing as well as assembling a whopping 25,000 electric motors per day at its plant in Tamil Nadu. Besides, as part of its sustainability and climate-friendly endeavour, Ola will install 1 lakh charging stations in 400 cities across India in the coming years.
An Ola electric scooter will cost a maximum of Rs 1.2 lakh if no government incentives are used. However, a maximum discount of Rs 35,000 can be availed as per different policies.
Announcing that it is accepting bookings, Ola said that advance bookings can happen at Rs 499.
"India’s EV revolution begins today! Bookings are now open for the Ola Scooter! India has the potential to become the world leader in EVs and we’re proud to lead this charge! (sic)," said Bhavish Aggarwal of Ola. It's also reported that Ola Electric and Bank of Baroda have signed a $100 million debt financing agreement, which will go into funding the first phase of the Ola Futurefactory, which is Ola’s global manufacturing hub for its electric two-wheelers.
