Right at the outset, we see the Teaser for 'Republic' quoting George Orwell: "In our age, there is no such thing as keeping out of politics." This is a quote often cited by those who say nothing is apolitical.
Director Deva Katta has cast Sai Dharam Tej in the role of a crusader who thunders that the system has gone bonkers because the very institutional foundations are steeped in corruption. "This is a feudal system where democracy is limited to voting and raising slogans," he says in the teaser as shots of a powerful woman named Vishakha Vani (Ramya Krishna) play out, among others.
We see Vani and Jagapathi Babu's character as Sai Tej argues that even civil servants and courts are at the beck and call of the feudal lords.
Aside from sketchy montages of clashes taking place and politicians delivering fiery speeches, we don't see anything more in the teaser.
Starring Aishwarya Rajesh as the heroine, the film has music by Mani Sharma and cinematography by M Sukumar. JB Entertainments is producing this June 4th release.
