Report exposes 'sex for sale' on Instagram

A report brought out by 'Economic Times' has detailed how virtual sex is for sale in India on Instagram. Thousands, if not lakhs, are selling virtual sexual services via the social networking app.
The report discovers that many are selling virtual sexual favours by seeking monetary payment through PayTM. Thousands of profiles on Instagram start with the word 'PayTM'. And many of these profiles are found to be having display pictures of naked women, etc. Striptease, cybersex, etc are some of the services on offer. Another report recently said that many gullible youngsters fall prey to fradulent individuals who sell virtual sex on social media apps.
One prominent reason behind the mushrooming of these activities on Instagram is that Facebook has been cracking down on illicit activities for more than a couple of years. So, many users have shifted to Insta, which has got about 12 crore users in India.
